Alina Wagiran is Senior Lecturer at UTM. Before she joint UTM as academician, her career started as private lecturer at INSTEAD. In UTM, she joined firstly as tutor at Faculty Science at 1999 and then as lecturer starting 2004. She has joint different faculties such as Faculty of Biosciences & Bioengineering and Faculty of Biosciences & Medical Engineering until 2018. During the mass synergy in UTM on 2018, the Biotechnology Department were synergized into Faculty of Science under Department of Biosciences. Her administrative role were lab manager and then Bioscience’s Director started on mid year of 2021 until today. Her research focusing on plant tissue culture especially for rice & Moringa plants as well as genetic transformation. Other that that she also interested on the application of DNA barcoding and High Resolution Melting analysis on authentication of herbal medicinal products as well as biodiversity. In both of areas, she had published more than 30 journals. When she is not busy reading about plant sciences research, she enjoys gardening and doing artwork from dry plants.
