MATCH OF THE DAY

Grass court king Roger Federer takes on 27th seed Mischa Zverev on Centre Court on Saturday for a place in the fourth round and, in Federer’s case, history.

If he wins, the Swiss will edge ahead of Serena Williams – with whom he is currently tied – to hold the record for the most matches won in grand slam singles’ competitions.

And that’s as he continues his march towards a possible eighth Wimbledon title which would see him edge ahead of Pete Sampras, with whom he currently shares the Open Era record of seven Wimbledon men’s singles’ titles.

POTENTIAL UPSET OF THE DAY

Facing an opponent ranked 589th in the world, Novak Djokovic seems an unlikely candidate for an upset on Saturday, but you never know.

It’s been a bad season for the once unbeatable Djokovic, and Latvian Gulbis – once ranked 10th in the world before suffering a string of injuries – has already been responsible for a major upset of the tournament by knocking Juan Martin del Potro.

BRITWATCH

There are no Brits in action in the singles competition on Saturday, but plenty to watch out for in the doubles. Jamie Murray teams up with Martina Hingis once again in the Mixed Doubles. As of Friday night the court and competitors were yet to be decided, but that will be after 5:00pm.

On Court 12 Heather Watson, now out of the singles competition, will join forces with Finland’s Henri Kontinen to play Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan and Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany, also in the mixed doubles, on Court 12.
