Sunday night’s SuperCup Clasico provided sensational drama.
A slow burning match exploded into life in the second half, serving up big incident after big incident, including:
- A Gerard Pique own-goal;
- A controversial penalty for a soft foul on Luis Suarez;
- A Lionel Messi penalty;
- A stunning Cristiano Ronaldo goal;
- An iconic Ronaldo topless celebration;
- A yellow card for Ronaldo for removing his shirt;
- A second yellow for Ronaldo for a supposed dive;
- Ronaldo pushing the referee in frustration;
- And a ‘golazo’ by substitute Marco Asensio.
It was astonishing entertainment and the fans lapped it up.
