In conjunction with the upcoming Chingay parade, several main roads in Johor Bahru will be closed in stages starting from tomorrow (February 26) until Monday (February 29), Bernama reports.
According to Johor Special Branch chief Datuk Ramli Hassan, the following roads will be closed from 10.30am, Friday to 1.30pm the following day – Jalan Gereja, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ulu Air Molek, Jalan Yahya Awal, Jalan Ayer Molek, Jalan Susur Ibrahim and Jalan Wong Ah Fook.
Meanwhile, Jalan Trus, Jalan Ngee Heng, Jalan Tun Razak dan Jalan Ulu Air Molek will be closed on Saturday from 8.30am to 2.30pm. The Saturday closures are to facilitate the float procession that starts from the Kuno temple at Jalan Trus, ending at the Xing Gong temple at Jalan Ulu Air Molek.
At the height of the parade on Sunday, several main roads will be closed in two stages. The first stage takes place from 3.30pm to 5pm, involving the junction of Jalan Gertak Merah/Jalan Dato’ Menteri and Jalan Ayer Molek.
The second stage meanwhile, takes place from 5pm to 3am, Monday, and involves the junction of Jalan Sungai Chat/Jalan Abu Bakar, Jalan Ayer Molek/Gertak Merah, Jalan Dato’ Onn traffic light junction/Jalan Ayer Molek, Jalan Wong Ah Fook, Jalan Meldrum, Jalan Siu Nam, Jalan Siu Chin, Jalan Tun Sri Lanang U-turn, Jalan Station, Jalan Abu Bakar and the Susur Lingkaran Dalam/Jalan Abu Bakar.
Ramli advised motorist to use alternative roads such as the Singapura-Jalan Skudai-Lingkaran Dalam-Jalan Skudai (Lido beach) dan Singapura-Kota Tinggi-Kuala Lumpur-Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL)
Additionally, the the Tiong Hua Johor Bahru association has also prepared a free shuttle bus service from the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos stadium, Larkin for the Danga City Mall and Wisma Maria route from 4pm to 2am to minimise road congestion.
