MATCH OF THE DAY
Milos Raonic (CAN) [6] v Roger Federer (SUI) [3]
Roger Federer has, against some quite substantial odds, returned to the pinnacle of the men’s game. At 35 he is yet to drop a set at Wimbledon this year. It is miraculous.
Therefore, whenever the Swiss is on court – and particularly at a Slam – his match is the de facto match of the day.
Add into the mix that it was Milos Raonic who knocked him out at the semi-final stage of Wimbledon last year and another layer of intrigue is added to the match second on Centre.
POTENTIAL UPSET OF THE DAY
Tomas Berdych (CZE) v Novak Djokovic (SRB) [2]
Novak Djokovic cut a testy figure after his fourth-round win over Adrian Mannarino on Tuesday. And it is understandable why.
Tomas Berdych was afforded an extra day’s rest after Djokovic’s match was postponed until Tuesday – a match in which he had to call on the trainer for a troublesome shoulder.
The Czech number one, ranked 15th in the world and a finalist here in 2010, will provide a stern test of the three-time champion.
