If you thought Malaysia is the only nation stricken with high vehicle prices, think again. Pricing for the facelifted Mercedes-AMG A 45 in Thailand has just been revealed at a lower 4,390,000 baht (RM514k) compared with the outgoing model\u2019s 5,790,000 baht (RM678k).
\nThe lower price has been awarded to the compact AMG hatchback courtesy of the Thai government\u2019s new incentive scheme for cars with low CO2 emissions in the country. As such, the excise duty has been lowered from 50% to 35%, knocking off a total 1,400,000 (RM164k) from the pre-facelift model\u2019s pricing. That’s still RM165k more expensive that our AMG A 45, which is priced at RM348,888.
\nThe new incentive scheme in Thailand officially began at the very start of 2016, as part of Phase 2 of the nation\u2019s Eco Car Project. The country which previously awarded incentives to vehicles with a certain engine size has now opened the incentives to all vehicles, basing the amount of incentives on its CO2 emissions.<\/p>\n
Alongside the W213 E-Class, Mercedes-Benz Thailand is set to unveil the new AMG A 45 at the coming 2016 Bangkok Motor Show. The hardcore hot hatch offers a barrage of new updates, chief of which is the higher-tuned 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbo engine which delivers 381 hp and 475 Nm of torque (the pre-facelift version had 360 hp and 450 Nm). The car is expectedly a lot quicker, performing the century sprint in 4.2 seconds now, compared to the pre-facelift model\u2019s 4.6 seconds.
