Later, it began <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2017\/02\/16\/twitter-no-notifications-from-blocked-muted-people\/\">muting<\/a> conversation reply notifications from people you&#8217;ve blocked or muted, even if they @ you and began <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2017\/02\/16\/twitters-anti-harassment-measure-leaves-trolls-shouting-into-th\/\">restricting<\/a> the reach of accounts deemed abusive. Earlier this year, Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2017\/03\/01\/twitter-improves-mute-controls-for-abuse\/\">introduced<\/a> filter settings that let users mute accounts if they had the default egg avatars or unverified email addresses or phone numbers and it began testing a feature that would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2017\/03\/09\/twitters-next-anti-abuse-measure-cordons-off-offensive-profil\/\">grey out<\/a> profiles that might contain sensitive content. And in May, the website started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2017\/05\/30\/twitter-requests-inbox-collects-dms\/\">siphoning<\/a> off DMs from people you don&#8217;t follow and putting them into a new &#8220;Requests&#8221; inbox.<\/p>\n<p>All of these changes have been introduced in order to help with Twitter&#8217;s rampant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2016\/12\/28\/twitter-garbage-fire\/\">abuse issues<\/a> and it will be interesting to see if the latest changes have any effect.
