{"id":1669,"date":"2017-08-20T11:32:44","date_gmt":"2017-08-20T03:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/people.utm.my\/azlans\/?p=1669"},"modified":"2017-08-20T11:32:44","modified_gmt":"2017-08-20T03:32:44","slug":"utm-amtec-membrane-technology-penetrates-international-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/azlans\/utm-amtec-membrane-technology-penetrates-international-market\/","title":{"rendered":"UTM AMTEC membrane technology penetrates international market"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\"><\/h1>\n<p class=\"entry-meta\">June 19, 2017\u00a0by\u00a0<span class=\"entry-author\"><a class=\"entry-author-link\" href=\"http:\/\/news.utm.my\/author\/sabri\/\" rel=\"author\"><span class=\"entry-author-name\">Office of Corporate Affairs<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>JOHOR BAHRU, June 19, 2017 \u2013 The Advanced Membrane Technology Research Centre (AMTEC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has successfully expanded its market to the Middle East in marketing their products to international markets.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27238\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-27238 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/2222222222222-551x310.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"310\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Suhaimi and Be Cheer providing training and courses to researchers at the ISR.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Its director, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail said he managed to supply products and technology transfer to the the Water Research Center, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) through open bidding recently.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the product called \u201cCustomized Spinning Hollow Fiber Membrane System\u201d was designed and developed entirely by AMTEC research groups that will be used in the study of separation and water treatment technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis product is a system specially designed to be used for the production of hollow fiber membranes in a variety of types and sizes depending on the application.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo researchers from AMTEC, Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah and Ng Be Cheer were in Kuwait from 11 to 15 June this year to provide training and courses to researchers at the ISR,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that through the training of researchers in the ISR can produce their own hollow fiber membranes and improve the skills, expertise and new ideas in technology-based membranous partition.<\/p>\n<p>He said that in the past, UTM AMTEC membrane products have been marketed abroad at the University of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology of Pakistan, other than the market in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAMTEC is expected to further widen the income generation through the development and supply of systems based on membrane technology through research collaborations in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of further discussions, KISR are very interested in using the membrane technology introduced by AMTEC to develop a water treatment system with the concept of zero waste liquid,\u201d said the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) UTM.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmad Fauzi further stated that KISR want to develop research-based membrane technology for sea water treatment and wastewater treatment in the future for the sustainable use of water in Kuwait.<\/p>\n<p>He said the success of the international market proved that Malaysian Public Universities have no shortage of research that is able to produce quality products.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June 19, 2017\u00a0by\u00a0Office of Corporate Affairs JOHOR BAHRU, June 19, 2017 \u2013 The Advanced Membrane Technology Research Centre (AMTEC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has successfully expanded its market to the Middle East in marketing their products to international markets.
