{"id":4392,"date":"2018-05-07T20:59:28","date_gmt":"2018-05-07T12:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/people.utm.my\/azlans\/?p=4392"},"modified":"2018-05-07T20:59:28","modified_gmt":"2018-05-07T12:59:28","slug":"food-carnival-2018-to-fulfill-utm-elective-subject","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/azlans\/food-carnival-2018-to-fulfill-utm-elective-subject\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Carnival 2018 to Fulfill UTM Elective Subject"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\"><\/h1>\n<p class=\"entry-meta\">May 3, 2018\u00a0by\u00a0<span class=\"entry-author\"><a class=\"entry-author-link\" href=\"https:\/\/news.utm.my\/author\/hafizan\/\" rel=\"author\"><span class=\"entry-author-name\">Hafizan Hamzah<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>JOHOR BAHRU, 24 April 2018 \u2013 The Bioprocess Engineering Student Society (BIOSS) of the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FCEE) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) had organized the 2018 BIOSS Entrepreneurial Food Carnival.<\/p>\n<p>The carnival was held in order to fulfill the requirement of the elective subject of Entrepreneurial (UHAS 3012) which is required to be taken by all UTM final year students.<\/p>\n<p>Program Director, Zulhilmi Ahmad Samsudin said that besides following the UTM academic regulation, this project was also organized to instill the entrepreneurial spirits among university future graduates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor this activity, 36 final year students of Bioprocess Engineering were divided into seven groups. One group was in charge of organizing the event while another six were required to set up stalls selling the food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong the items sold were sweet corn, spicy fried chicken sausage and other light food and soft drinks,\u201d said Zulhilmi.<br \/>\nZulhilmi mentioned that upon completion of the sale, each group was required to conduct a presentation detailing of each sale and profit obtained to the appraisal panel for the distribution of marks.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the subjects introduced by UTM to his students, Zuhilmi personally supported the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe introduction to this subject is good for future graduates to create their own jobs through business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to instilling entrepreneurial traits among graduates, this subject contributes in harnessing the soft skills of the graduates such as speaking skills, creative thinking as well as managing skills of an organization,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_34432\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-34432\" src=\"https:\/\/news.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/BIOSS-Food-Carnival-2018-copy-551x413.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"355\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of the participating group in the BIOSS 2018 Food Carnival\u00a0preparing their sweet corn stall at FCEE, Johor Bahru campus before the event started.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>May 3, 2018\u00a0by\u00a0Hafizan Hamzah JOHOR BAHRU, 24 April 2018 \u2013 The Bioprocess Engineering Student Society (BIOSS) of the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FCEE) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) had organized the 2018 BIOSS Entrepreneurial Food Carnival.
