With an extensive background in both industry and academia, Dr. Azman Bin Mohamed is a key contributor to the advancement of Civil Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). His industry experience, spanning roles as a Quantity Surveyor, Site Supervisor, and Site Engineer with companies such as Soon Fong Construction Works Sdn. Bhd., Teknik Cekap Construction Sdn. Bhd., Technoventure Co. Ltd., and Gamuda Berhad, informs his current research and teaching practices. Since joining UTM in 1998 as a Tutor, Dr. Azman has been an influential figure in the academic landscape.
At UTM, Dr. Azman has held various leadership roles, including serving as an Academic Advisor, Head of the Highway Engineering Laboratory, and a member of UTM Kuala Lumpur Development Committee. His contributions to academic development, including program creation and quality assurance, earned him the UTM Excellent Service Award in 2005.

Research Interests & Current Projects
Dr. Azman’s research focuses on innovative solutions in pavement engineering, concrete materials, and recycled aggregates. He is a core member of the Pavement & Transportation Research Group within UTM’s Construction Research Alliance. His ongoing projects and areas of expertise include:
- Short Course: Pavement Materials, Mix Design & Construction
- Road Materials Quality Testing and Course
- Traffic Study for Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) during the operation stage for Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (PRPC)
- Potential Use of Quarry Waste for Road Shoulders
- Performance of Effective Microorganisms Mortar as Concrete Block Pavement Surface
- Strengthening of Low Bearing Capacity Subgrade Soil using Intelligent Shape Concrete Panel (ISCP) for Rural Roads
- Investigation on Nailed Edge Restraint Concrete Block Paver for Pavement Durability
Through these initiatives, Dr. Azman is pushing the boundaries of pavement technology, exploring sustainable materials, and contributing to the development of smarter infrastructure.
