Dr. Aznizam Abu Bakar started his career as a superintendent at Malaysian Mirrors (M), Sdn. Bhd, Sungai Buloh, Selangor in 1990. He joined as a tutor in the Polymer Engineering Department, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1992. In 1995, he completed his MSc. in Polymer Science and Technology, UMIST, UK and became the lecturer in the same department. In 2001, he pursued his PhD at the UTM, in the Polymer Engineering Department. His PhD work focused on the development of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch Filled-Impact Modified Poly (vinyl chloride) composites.
As a dedicated lecturer in the Polymer Engineering Department, he has an ability to teach various subjects of Polymer Engineering and Chemical Engineering including thermodynamic, static, dynamic, material science, material engineering, fluid mechanics, technical drawing, mass balance, energy balance, rubber and latex technology, polymer processing and rheology, compounding, additives and composites, polymer characteristic and testing, additives polymer. He also involved as an instructor for polymer short courses organized by Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant. He has also co-supervised 2 master students, more than 30 undergraduate research projects as well as numerous final year plant design projects.
Dr. Aznizam’s research interests pertain to Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch fiber Poly (vinyl chloride) composites. Interest in the use of natural fibers as a fibers reinforcement has grown over the past few years due to the advantages it offers. Currently, Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch fiber as a reinforcement in poly (vinyl chloride) is a new attraction in polymer composites. He has published a few international and national papers and conference proceeding on this field.
Recently, he holds the post of secretary for Journal of Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering, and also for committee of academic publishing.
