Chee Wei TAN is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London in 2008 and his B.Eng. (First Class Honors) from UTM in 2003. His research focuses on renewable energy, power electronics applications, and microgrid energy management.

He is a Chartered Engineer (U.K.), Professional Engineer (Malaysia), and a Professional Technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists. Dr. Tan is also a Senior Member of IEEE, where he has served in various leadership roles including Chair and Treasurer of the IEEE Power Electronics Society Malaysia Chapter. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Malaysia Research Star Award (High Impact Paper – Engineering and Technologies) by the Ministry of Education Malaysia in 2018, multiple Best Paper Awards at IEEE international conferences (2020–2024), and recognition as one of the World’s Top 2% Scientists (2021–2024) by Elsevier and Stanford University. In 2025, he was also listed among the Best Engineering and Technology Scientists in Malaysia by Research.com.
