Teaching Passion

“Empowering mind, inspiring future talent through
cultivating critical thinking and lifelong learning grounded
in respect and passion for knowledge.”

Teaching Responsibilities

For the past almost 14 years of teaching, I was given the responsibility
of teaching several undergraduate courses, and postgraduate
courses in the Master of Science (Data Science) taught course
program. I have experience in teaching mainstream and part-time
students (SPACE) as well as university general courses, Extra Curricular
Experiential Learning (EXCEL).
Throughout these variety of courses and different levels of student
maturity, I have developed adaptability skills in teaching to capture
different audiences which has helped me deliver the teaching
materials effectively

About Me

Education

Dr. Nor Erne Nazira has been serving UTM since 2006 starting as a tutor. She completed her Bachelor of Computer Science (Industrial Computing) from Faculty of Computer Science and Information System (former name of Faculty of Computing), UTM with 2nd Class Honour in 2004.

In 2007 she started her fast-track PhD journey in the Center of Operational Research and Applied Statistics (CORAS), Salford Business School, University of Salford, United Kingdom and completed the study within 3 years at the young age of 28. Her research presentation was on improving supply chain design strategy through the use of computer simulation modeling.

During her PhD study, she has also gained experience as an assistant lecturer teaching Business Information Technology to undergraduate students. Apart from completing her study within a minimum duration, she also receives an award for Best Poster Presentation on her research during Salford Business School Open Day

Career Journey

Her teaching journey started with teaching undergraduate programming courses in Feb 2011 which is one of her favorite subjects during her study. Discrete Mathematics and Probability and Statistical Data Analysis are two other subjects she taught for a number of semesters.

When MSc (Data Science) is offered by Faculty of Computing, being appointed as the first program coordinator (2019-2021), she gets the honor to teach taught master courses, Business Intelligence and Analytics, as well as Supply Chain Analytics.

Lifelong Learning

Along with the rapid evolving technology, she feels the urge to upskill herself with the current skills and knowledge required for data science. She successfully obtained sponsorship to attend Big Data Professionals Certification program offered by Yayasan Peneraju Bumiputera where she was successfully awarded with Data Science Analyst and Data Engineering Associates certificates. In line with emerging cloud technology,

Dr. Nor Erne Nazira has also acquired Microsoft certification for Azure Data Fundamentals and Azure AI Fundamentals.

Professional Training Attachment

Embracing the spirit of lifelong learning, Dr. Nor Erne Nazira is continuously reskilling and upskilling herself to benefit the teaching and learning activities. She has undergone professional training attachment with DHL Applied Analytics, DHL Asia Pacific Innovation Center, Singapore which is one of only four DHL Innovation Center in the world from June 2021- July 2022 working closely with a team of DHL Data Scientists providing data driven solutions to customers.
