is still present.\u00a0 You can ask students questions, use polls to get their response and so forth which allow you to identify and rectify certain things immediately.\u00a0 For example, if your students do not understand certain things, they can ask questions there and then.\u00a0 In return, you can answer their questions immediately too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 2:\u00a0<\/strong> <strong>Prerecorded video (one type of asynchronous method)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you prefer to have a more flexible work from home hours, prerecorded video such as <a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/video-save-presentations-as-videos%E2%80%8B-ba919059-523d-40a8-b99c-08d18996c09d\">powerpoint video<\/a> might be the best choice even if you have strong internet connection.\u00a0 In addition, you don&#8217;t need to set a Webex\/ Zoom\/ Bigbluebutton meeting.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>But <span style=\"color: #003300\">option 1<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>is <strong>ONLY<\/strong> possible if you have <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>unlimited dataplan<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>speed (plus if there is no internet outage)<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 Even though I subscribe to unlimited dataplan for the internet, but the speed of my internet connection is varied (and unpredictable).\u00a0 I need to minimise glitches during online meeting especially if I am the host.\u00a0 So, I don&#8217;t have much choice other than using prerecorded video.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the difference of the size of different recordings?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>size<\/strong><\/span> of the prerecorded video (using Powerpoint) and Webex meeting that you save in MP4 format is<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> not similar<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 \u00a0When I looked closely two different files (1 &#8211; a Powerpoint video note, 2 &#8211; a Webex meeting), <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Webex<\/strong><\/span> meeting is in <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Megabyte<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong>Powerpoint video note<\/strong><\/span> is in <strong><span style=\"color: #000080\">Kilobyte<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 Megabyte is bigger than Kilobyte.\n<ol>\n<li>A <b>Megabyte<\/b>\u00a0is one thousand times\u00a0<b>bigger<\/b>\u00a0than a\u00a0<b>Kilobyte<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>If I could rank it: <strong style=\"font-size: 1rem\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">Large<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">\u00a0(Webex or Zoom recording) -&gt; <\/span><span style=\"color: #003300\"><strong>Medium<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"> (Powerpoint video recording) -&gt; <\/span><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem\">Small<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"><span style=\"color: #800080\">\u00a0<\/span>(Powerpoint with audio narration)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Both are still larger as compared to Powerpoint slides with audio narration.\u00a0 So, students need to be aware about this too.\u00a0 Another alternative, you can upload the prerecorded video on Youtube and just give the link to students.\u00a0 But watching Youtube video will deplete your dataplan (unless you subscribe to unlimited dataplan).<\/p>\n<p>Using online method to teach is <strong>costly<\/strong>.\u00a0 No doubt about that.\u00a0 Other than the infrastructure and tools\/gadgets that needed for online learning, there are other things that need to be taken into consideration such as dataplan, internet bandwith and so forth.\u00a0 \u00a0But how far we can rely on online learning when there is always the possibility of unforeseen internet outage that can happen any time due to the increased users regardless of the internet providers?\u00a0 In that case, nothing beats face to face learning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Which is which?\u00a0 Webex or Zoom or Bigbluebutton VS preprecorded video notes (powerpoint).
