{"id":8012,"date":"2022-12-19T10:21:15","date_gmt":"2022-12-19T02:21:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/hadijahjaffri\/?p=8012"},"modified":"2023-06-11T15:49:27","modified_gmt":"2023-06-11T07:49:27","slug":"alfatihah-to-prof-dr-amir-feisal-merican-bin-aljunid-merican","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/hadijahjaffri\/alfatihah-to-prof-dr-amir-feisal-merican-bin-aljunid-merican\/","title":{"rendered":"Alfatihah to Prof Dr Amir Feisal Merican bin Aljunid Merican"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>I know him since 2019.\u00a0 He was the leader of a grant that we wanted to apply.\u00a0 Allah Knows best that the collaboration did not materialise.\u00a0 He was apologetic when we knew the results.\u00a0 It was an experience that I will never forget seeing him apologising to all members in our WhatsApp group.<\/p>\n<p>I had a second chance to meet him again in September 2019.\u00a0 We met in a meeting room of the IIUM Rector&#8217;s office.\u00a0 I was feeling small to be seated in the same table of all intellectuals.\u00a0 From Prof Amir, I know Prof Ahmad Murad Merican, another intellectual that I admire.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A message from Prof Murad last Friday left me feeling numb.\u00a0 &#8220;It cannot be true&#8221; my first thought.\u00a0 \u00a0He was young.\u00a0 He was healthy.\u00a0 Wait!\u00a0 I met him more than three years ago.\u00a0 Many things had happened since then which I did not know.\u00a0 How foolish am I to think things do not change?\u00a0 He passed away around 4am, Saturday morning (18 December 2022).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prof Amir, it is an honor to meet and know you in person.
