Identity Diffusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"p-rc_e9cd18ad2b4523ef-21\">In this status, the individual has <strong>not yet experienced a crisis<\/strong> and has <strong>made no commitments<\/strong>.<sup><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Characteristics:<\/strong> They may seem aimless, uninterested, or overwhelmed by the idea of the future. They aren&#8217;t trying to figure out who they are, nor do they care to at the moment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Example:<\/strong> A teenager who has no interest in thinking about college or a career and spends most of their time on fleeting hobbies without deep engagement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Foreclosure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here, the individual has <strong>made a commitment<\/strong> but has <strong>not explored<\/strong> other options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Characteristics:<\/strong> Their identity is often &#8220;handed down&#8221; by authority figures (usually parents or religion). They accept these values without questioning them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Example:<\/strong> A student who decides to become a doctor simply because their parents are doctors, without ever considering if they actually like medicine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Moratorium<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"p-rc_e9cd18ad2b4523ef-24\">The individual is currently in the <strong>midst of a crisis<\/strong>, actively <strong>exploring<\/strong>, but has <strong>not yet made a commitment<\/strong>.<sup><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Characteristics:<\/strong> This is often a period of high anxiety but also high growth. They are &#8220;trying on&#8221; different versions of themselves\u2014new styles, political views, or career paths.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Example:<\/strong> A college student who changes their major three times and joins various clubs to see where they fit best.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Identity Achievement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the &#8220;end goal&#8221; where the individual has <strong>gone through a crisis<\/strong> and <strong>made a firm commitment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Characteristics:<\/strong> They have explored various possibilities and settled on a path that feels authentic to them.
