{"id":8979,"date":"2026-04-22T13:32:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T05:32:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/hadijahjaffri\/?p=8979"},"modified":"2026-04-22T13:35:50","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T05:35:50","slug":"creativity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/hadijahjaffri\/creativity\/","title":{"rendered":"Creativity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"p-rc_d1ec466e298f692b-246\"><strong>Creativity<\/strong> is a <a href=\"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/hadijahjaffri\/complex-cognitive-processes\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"8935\">complex cognitive process<\/a> defined as the ability to <em>generate new, original, <\/em>and <em>valuable ideas<\/em> by <strong>combining existing knowledge in novel ways.<\/strong> It is often described as <em><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-medium-pink-color\">&#8220;thinking in new ways to make something original and useful&#8221;<\/mark><\/em>.  <strong>Creativity<\/strong> is not just about having a single &#8220;good idea&#8221;.  It involves <strong>four specific <\/strong>cognitive dimensions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Originality<\/strong>: The ability to produce an idea that is new or different from the usual. For example, a student writing a poem using fresh, unique metaphors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fluency<\/strong>: The capacity to generate a large number of ideas or potential solutions for a single problem. An example would be brainstorming ten different ways to reduce plastic waste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flexibility<\/strong>: The ability to see problems from multiple viewpoints or different perspectives. For example, designing a product that is equally functional for both right- and left-handed users.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Elaboration<\/strong>: The process of adding details to an idea or refining it to make it more complete.
