HARISUN YAAKOB
Ts DR. HARISUN BT. YAAKOB is the senior lecturer at School of Chemical and Energy Engineering and also a research fellow of Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD). She graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2010 where she obtained her Ph.D (Biological Sciences). Prior to that, she completed her MSc in 2006 and BSc. (1999) (Bioprocess Engineering) in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Her professional expertise is on food and nutraceutical product development, phytochemical, herbal, cell culture, probiotic, drug delivery systems and halal products. She has an excellent researcher showed by her publications, consultancy works and received a lot of higher prestigious award from local and international products and innovation competition. She has been invited a keynote, plenary speaker and giving oral presentation on the international and national scientific meetings and seminars. Her contributions on established a platform of laboratories, R&D activities and consultation in IBD UTM making a IBD as reference centre for bioproduct, herbal, phytochemical and biochemical processing in the country. She is also a halal certified trainer, course tutor and practical instructor for the postgraduate and short courses organized by IBD and responsible on academics’ aspects especially supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as research and consultancy work. She also actively involved in department related activities and administration posts.Based on the research conducted, it can be proven that she is the researcher that has great potential for commercialization in nutraceutical industry, herbal and biotechnology. Here, we can see that the success of Dr Harisun through research and development is very reassuring because she managed to reach national and international level. Her vision is to be an innovative and outstanding academic and researcher by providing a best service to the nation and academic community.
