{"id":3186,"date":"2016-02-29T08:16:40","date_gmt":"2016-02-29T00:16:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/people.utm.my\/haslinasarkan\/?p=3186"},"modified":"2016-02-29T08:16:40","modified_gmt":"2016-02-29T00:16:40","slug":"peugeot-citroen-exagon-hydro-quebec-others-partner-on-new-electric-drivetrain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/haslinasarkan\/peugeot-citroen-exagon-hydro-quebec-others-partner-on-new-electric-drivetrain\/","title":{"rendered":"Peugeot Citro\u00ebn, Exagon, Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec &amp; Others Partner On New Electric Drivetrain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following article is obtained from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/insideevs.com\/peugeot-citroen-exagon-hydro-quebec-others-partner-on-new-electric-drivetrain\/\" target=\"_blank\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Qu\u00e9bec Premier Philippe Couillard announced at the 2016\u00a0World Economic Forum in Davos, a research and development initiative between <strong>the Gouvernement\u00a0of Qu\u00e9bec, Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong> (with its subsidiary <strong>TM4<\/strong>), <strong>PSA Peugeot Citro\u00ebn and Exagon Motors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Their goal is to develop a new high-performance electric drivetrain that will be manufactured by TM4 in Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTM4 will act as the developer of the electric powertrain in the pre-development phase of the project.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>During this process, TM4 will develop a new, highly efficient and high performance drivetrain. This system will be a state-of-the-art evolution of the TM4 MOTIVE series, consisting of permanent magnet electric motors and power electronics. Specifically designed for passenger cars and light-duty vehicles, these systems are effective turnkey solutions created expressively for electric vehicles. This new powertrain will be designed and manufactured at TM4\u2019s headquarters in Boucherville, Quebec.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The government promised $10 million (CAD) equity interest and a $6\u00a0million (CAD) loan for the project, while Hydro\u00adQu\u00e9bec will contribute another $4 million (CAD). In total, the project will cost nearly $31 million (CAD) .<\/p>\n<p>Our concerns of commercialization of the product arose when we found that the $31 million is only for a\u00a0<strong>feasibility study<\/strong>, but hopefully companies like PSA will introduce some high-performance plug-in DS-series model using those drivetrains.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe resulting joint venture will bring together PSA Peugeot Citro\u00ebn, French SME Exagon Motors, Investissement Qu\u00e9bec and Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec subsidiary IndusTech. Its first mission will be to conduct a feasibility study for an estimated CAD\u00a030.8\u00a0million. In an initial phase, the study could lead to the development of components for high-performance electric vehicles.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c<strong>PSA Peugeot Citro\u00ebn would lend its expertise in integrating the electric vehicle components, for which it would become the main customer for worldwide distribution.<\/strong>\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Qu\u00e9bec electric drivetrain project seems to have many supporters:<\/p>\n<p>Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMy government intends to make Quebec a standard-bearer in the campaign to electrify transport.
