Be it in the classroom or a one-to-one\u00a0meeting in the office, etiquette must be followed.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a guideline to appointment etiquette. Please follow this when making an appointment.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Please remember you are communicating with your lecturer, not your friends.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Make appointment to meet.<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Walk-ins are only permitted during designated Student Meeting Time (please refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.utm.my\/hazinah\/2016\/09\/05\/my-schedule-for-sem1_1617\/\">my timetable<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Appointments always get higher priority than walk-ins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Always refer to my schedule before making an appointmen<\/strong><strong>t<\/strong><\/span>, so you can choose an appropriate time for both you and me.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Please use appropriate methods to make an appointment<\/strong><\/span>.\n<ul>\n<li>Acceptable methods include: Email (please use my official email address), Phone messages (SMS, WA), face-to-face.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Please use appropriate sentences and wording to make an appointment<\/strong><\/span>. Please be specific too.\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Not acceptable<\/span><\/strong>: <em><strong>I 1 2 c u 2moro @ 4<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Acceptable: <em>I would like make an appointment to see you tomorrow at 4pm<\/em>. OR <em>May I see you tomorrow at 4PM?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Please be specific<\/strong><\/span> on time, place and reason(s).\n<ul>\n<li>For example: &#8216;<em>After Zohor<\/em>&#8216; is not specific. Is it after the time for Zohor? Or after you pray Zohor? If so, when do you usually pray Zohor: early or late?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Please cite your name and info.<\/strong><\/span> I do not keep ALL of my students numbers and email addresses with me.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Please cite the reason you want to meet<\/strong><\/span>. This way I can ready the resources to ensure a smooth meeting.\n<ul>\n<li>Examples: Are we meeting to :\n<ul>\n<li>discuss your grades? &#8212; I will prepare the appropriate files<\/li>\n<li>your assignment? &#8212; I will prepare the resources and assignment sheets<\/li>\n<li>your behaviour? &#8212; I will prepare my patience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Please be clear how many people are coming with you to the appointment.<\/strong><\/span> This is to ensure there is enough room.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Please bring the appropriate things and resources to ensure a smooth meeting or discussion.<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>For example: If you want to discuss the tutorial, please bring the tutorial questions and your answer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Please silent or switch off your phone before you\u00a0enter my room.<\/span><\/strong> After all, you are here\u00a0to meet and discuss with me not your friends.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Please be on time for your appointment<\/span><\/strong>. My time is as important as yours.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">If you are to be late, by no fault of your own, please send a message to notify me. Please be sure to state the reason.<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>For example: I am sorry I will be late due to a punctured tyre on my bike.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Please dress appropriately when you meet me.<\/strong><\/span> Please follow the UTM Guideline.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Bring your own laptop or print it out (No USB)<\/strong><\/span>. If you need to show me a program, or a softcopy of your presentation, reports, etc; please bring your laptop. Or print it out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>This guide is not to burden you but to make things easy for you now and your future.
