Transactional leadership<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transactional leadership styles<\/strong>&nbsp;use &#8220;transactions&#8221; between a leader and his or her followers &#8211; rewards, punishments and other exchanges &#8211; to get the job done. The leader sets clear goals, and team members know how they&#8217;ll be rewarded for their compliance. This &#8220;give and take&#8221;&nbsp;<strong>leadership style<\/strong>&nbsp;is more concerned with following established routines and procedures in an efficient manner, than with making any transformational changes to an organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Advantages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Leaders create specific, measurable and time-bound goals that are achievable for employees.<\/li><li>Employee motivation and productivity is increased.<\/li><li><strong>Transactional leadership<\/strong>&nbsp;eliminates or minimizes confusion in the chain of command.<\/li><li>It creates a system that is easy to implement for leaders and easy to follow by employees.<\/li><li>Employees can choose reward systems.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disadvantages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Innovation &amp; creativity is minimized.<\/li><li>Empathy is not valued.<\/li><li><strong>Transactional leadership<\/strong>&nbsp;creates more followers than leaders among employees.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Transformational Leadership<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<strong>transformational leadership styles<\/strong>, the leader inspires his or her followers with a vision and then encourages and empowers them to achieve it. The leader also serves as a role model for the vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Advantages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It leads to a lower employee turnover rate.<\/li><li><strong>Transformational leadership<\/strong>&nbsp;places high value on corporate vision.<\/li><li>High morale of employees is often experienced.<\/li><li>It uses motivation and inspiration to gain the support of employees.<\/li><li>It is not a coercive approach to leadership.<\/li><li>It places high value on relationships.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disadvantages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Leaders can deceive employees.<\/li><li>Consistent motivation and constant feedback may be required.<\/li><li>Tasks can\u2019t be pushed through without the agreement of employees.<\/li><li><strong>Transformational leadership<\/strong>&nbsp;can sometimes lead to the deviation of protocols and regulations.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leadership &amp; General Management | 8 minutes read | Last update: November 2021 4.
