Dr. Izni Syahrizal bin Ibrahim is currently the Director at Forensic Engineering Centre (FEC), Institute for Smart Infrastructure and Innovative Construction (ISIIC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia since April 2018 and also the Quality Manager for the Civil Engineering Testing Unit (CETU), School of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. He was previously the Head of Research Group, Precast Concrete Research Group (PCRG) until 2018.
As a Quality Manager at CETU, he is responsible for to formulate the policy of CETU to ensure the smooth and overall running of the unit. Civil Engineering Testing Unit (CETU) had been granted MS ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 for Laboratory Accreditation SAMM No. 804 since 2015. The accreditation was granted by the DEPARTMENT OF STANDARDS MALAYSIA after going through rigorous audit on the documentation for Laboratory Management System (LMS). At the same time, the laboratory personnel are ensured to be competent in carrying out their testing duties based on the good laboratory practice as indicated in the documents.
The responsibility of Director at FEC involves the planning and implementation of all research work, consultation, seminar and professional training. The Research Centre was formed in 2015 under the Institute for Smart Infrastructure and Innovative Construction (ISIIC). Each year, FEC successfully conducted Forensic Civil Engineering Seminar (ForCES) attended by hundreds of professionals in sharing their experience on structural failure, assessment, retrofit, conservation and many more related to Civil Engineering.
