Dr. Izni Syahrizal Ibrahim has a Bachelor Degree (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from UTM in 1998. He then join UTM as a tutor in 1999 and completed his Master in Struct. Eng. also from UTM in 2000. He is then appointed as a Lecturer before pursuing his Doctoral Degree in 2003. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2008 and appointed as Senior Lecturer in 2009. Since 2017, he is an Associate Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
Dr. Izni Syahrizal Ibrahim is currently the Director at Forensic Engineering Centre (FEC), Institute for Smart Infrastructure and Innovative Construction (ISIIC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia since April 2018. At the same time, he is also the Quality Manager at Civil Engineering Testing Unit (CETU) under the School of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UTM. CETU is an accredited laboratory for MS ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 SAMM No. 804. His research area/interest is related to the precast concrete construction, composite action behaviour in precast structure, steel fibre reinforced concrete and forensic engineering investigation. He has published more than 100 technical papers in international journals and conference proceedings mainly in Structures and Materials.
Between 2011 and 2020, 7 PhDs and 7 Masters (by Research) students have graduated under his main and joint supervision. Currently he is supervising (main supervisor and co-supervisor) 10 post-graduate research students.
