Assalamualaikum and a very good day to all dear readers. I’m back again with another posting regarding my daily task as a Multimedia Producer at the office. I’m feeling happy to let you all know that our Blackmagic Atem TVS HD already repaired by the distributor and has returned back to us. After a few tests back at the studio, now I feel confident again to do multi-camera production.
So, the only thing we need to do right now is getting ready with a possible MCP event soon. We already have a Datavideo DAC-70 converter to convert computer input signal to a selected video output format for live switching. But I think with the current situation we have now is quite impossible to do MCP! We already have lots of MOOC videos to edit. You know once MCO were implemented on the 18th of March 2020 all of us work from home, not to mention we bring our PC to our home! hehehe..this is a great idea! But it comes with a cost okay! Just imagine doing editing at home with all of your kids around you! Once you get up from the chair to take 5 minutes break then they quickly climb to your chair and start messing around with the keyboard and everything. So that’s why before I left the computer the most important thing to do was activate the screen saver. Yes. This is a MUST! Otherwise, you’re in trouble finding and managing those files you did earlier! Argh!
I guess the only downside of the situation we’re having right now is that, the BMD Atem only sits on the far end of the store without anyone touching it, open it, or even better, use it! We bought that gadget for MCP video project, though we haven’t been able to fully utilize it with BMD Web Presenter. So sad…
Overlap with another Dept. on the same event
Another important note to mention when recording an MCP event such as Leadership Talk Series (LTS) organized by our office is that we will team up with another dept. for video conferencing to Kuala Lumpur and Pagoh campus. From our technical perspective when doing an MCP event, the best practise to capture audio from a mixer to a video switcher is to use the stereo out at the back/top of the mixer with XLR/TRS jack audio cable and patch it to audio channel 1 & 2 on the video switcher. By doing this we get the audio signal from the mixer including the presenter laptop presentation along with the audio input let say, the presenter have a short video to playback on the hall, and yes we get that audio feed to our video switcher as well. But the VC team also need that audio to send to another location as mention before. So there’s the problem in a nutshell. Though we don’t have the specific dual stereo out mixer, the only thing we can do is to bring our own field mixer to record the presenter speech to our video switcher. And that means we use our own lepel mic to clipped at the presenter’s blazer, and that’s it; we got the presenter speech audio! It does not sound technical friendly in terms of MCP video project. But that’s the solution we have at the moment.
Okay guys, see you again in my next posting, toodle-oo!
Wassalam
