An hour after our arrival at WTC KL, our office department car, a Toyota Innova, pulled up with three of our staff members and one academic staff member who had carpooled together. The academic staff, from the Faculty of Built Environment & Surveying at UTM, was the content owner of one of our virtual lab projects, Tanggam Wood Joint.<\/p>\n
While our colleagues decided to have lunch at the upper floor of WTC KL, where the exhibition hall is located, my boss and I discovered a slight miscommunication. Since UTM co-organized the event, lunch was provided for free. Unfortunately, the person in charge didn\u2019t inform us upon our arrival for the briefing. Thus, my boss and I ended up walking to Sunway Putra Mall for lunch. Thankfully, it was just a short walk away, and the break gave us a chance to unwind and prepare mentally for the busy days ahead.<\/p>\n
Due to the ongoing renovation at the exhibition hall, there wasn\u2019t much we could do. We all decided to head back to our hotel, Seri Pacific Hotel, which conveniently connects to WTC KL. That evening, I shared a room with my colleague, En Harith, a familiar face from the office. It was comforting to have a known companion on this trip. After a refreshing shower, I grabbed two MSI gaming laptops and headed back to WTC.<\/p>\n
Back at WTC, we continued setting up our booth with laptops, video content, and VR headsets. Given the event\u2019s focus on AI technology, the organizers had strict guidelines for booth aesthetics: no bags, water bottles, name cards, bunting, or banners. Instead, they provided a mini PC and a large 55″ Android TV, ensuring a modern and clean layout. Our booth, named “MOHE AI NEXUS,” was part of a cluster of university booths, creating a collaborative atmosphere.<\/p>\n
We planned to display three video contents on the TV. However, after a review from our Director, some corrections were necessary, so we focused on setting up one laptop for our virtual lab content\u2014specifically, a simulation completed in Unity 3D software. The video content was produced by our talented video editors back at UTM Skudai, who were working tirelessly to finalize the edits. They stayed at the office until late at night to ensure everything was perfect. Kudos to them for their hard work and dedication!<\/p>\n
By the time we downloaded all three videos, it was already 10 PM. Our Director then called En Harith, inviting us to dinner\u2014a much-needed break we had been looking forward to. However, due to the limited parking space at the hotel, we initially declined. But our Director insisted, determined to treat us to dinner somewhere in KL.<\/p>\n
Despite the initial setbacks with the booth setup and communication, the day ended on a high note. We were ready for the event\u2019s official start, eager to showcase our work and connect with fellow AI enthusiasts. This journey not only highlighted the importance of teamwork and adaptability but also reminded us of the incredible support we have from our colleagues and leaders.<\/p>\n
