Biography

Dr. Khairulzan Yahya is a Senior Lecturer in Construction Management within the subject of Environmental Management in Construction especially in the topic of Life Cycle Assessment at The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor. His teaching and research responsibilities are in the areas of:

  • Sustainable and Environmental Management in Construction
  • Construction Technology
  • Contract and Estimating
  • Construction Project Management

Since 1998 he works as an academic staff member of the Structural and Materials Department. He was a Head of Construction Panel for the faculty from 2008 until 2016 and has been involved in the coordination of the Construction Technology course at the undergraduate level. He was also involved in the development of the Masters of Project Management program in UTM and he himself is the coordinator for the program since 2009 until now.

He obtained his M.Eng degree in Construction Management in 2002 UTM with a study on the evaluation of a Neural Network model in predicting low-cost housing demand in urban areas of the district of Selangor. In 2007, he successfully completed his Ph.D. from the University of Liverpool, the United Kingdom with a thesis entitled “Eco-costing of Building Construction Wastes”.
