The book is a collection of paintings by\u00a0Mohamed Hoessein Enas, one of the earliest generations of\u00a0local artists. Commissioned by\u00a0Shell, the book was published in 1963, the year\u00a0our nation\u00a0was formed. It even has a foreword by our first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, written on 11 September, 5 days before the formation! Kevin&#8217;s copy belonged to his father, who\u00a0started working\u00a0for\u00a0the gas company\u00a0in 1972 and retired in 2002.\u00a0He believes it&#8217;s out of\u00a0publication already, which is why this book is\u00a0super precious. &#8216;Malaysians&#8217;\u00a0has 51 of Hoessein&#8217;s paintings of people\u00a0and scenes that show our melting pot of cultures, a fascinating\u00a0portrait of what Malaysia (and Malaysians) was like 50 years ago.
