This chapter shares the story of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in reforming higher education teaching, learning and research to meet the challenges of disruptive innovation. It highlights how UTM has taken concrete steps to better prepare students for an ever-changing world by reshaping how academic practices and research approaches.
The chapter is based on a programme conducted at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies in 2023. At that time, UTM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ir Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail was invited to contribute by documenting UTM’s journey in implementing reforms related to disruptive innovations.
Using the STEM Education Framework as its core concept, the chapter brings together contributions from UTM academics and administrators, who collectively share their expertise and perspectives on this critical topic.
