Dr. Madihah became a family member of UTM in the year 2000 as a lecturer under the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science. She was then appointed as the Head of Department from 2004-2007, while in 2005 she was promoted to the Senior Lecturer post. In 2008, the department of Biology moved out of the Faculty of Science and formed the Faculty of Biosciences and Bioengineering in which she was appointed as the Deputy Dean (Academic). In the same year, Dr. Madihah was also given the title Associate Professor by UTM. Dr. Madihah progressed successfully from the very beginning of her career at UTM and is still very actively involved in research at the Faculty of Biosciences and Medical Engineering under the department of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering. She is well known for her expertise in the biotechnology fields in various specialization such as fermentation, enzyme and biorefinery technology, industrial and environmental biotechnology as well as biofuel from biomass. In the past 14 years, She has successfully published her work in 29 international and national journals with a current h-index of 8, attended more than 30 conferences both national and internationally as well as supervised more that 80 undergraduate students, 21 masters students and 12 Phd students either as the coordinating or co-supervisor. As for the research interests, she has not only carried out projects within utm but has various collaborations with other national institutes and research centers in Malaysia such as UPM, UKM, UITM, UIA, MARDI, Environmental and Bioprocess Technology Centre, SIRIM and Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) in which she has either headed or has been a co-researcher in various projects with a total grant close to RM 4.5 million. Currently, Dr. Madihah’s research work is focused on the Bioconversion of lignobiomass to value added products via bioprocessing method. Apart from that, two of her co-authored projects have each grabbed a bronze medal for the work entitled An Aquaculture Feedmeal from Fermented Prawn Silage” at Industrial Art & Technology Exhibition (INATEX 2006) and a silver medal for the project entitled “Stochastic Modelling of Solvent Production by C. acetobutylicum P262 in fermentation process at Creation, Innovation, Technology and Research Exposition 2013 (CITREX 2013), respectively. She is also actively involved in Asean Federation of Biotechnology as Executive Board Members and Advisory Board Members for AFOB-Malaysia Chapter. She has been appointed by MQA as a panel for programme academic related to Biotechnology field since 2007 to date. Currently, she has collaborated with several companies such as, Agrowaste Sdn Bhd, Biodeinking Sdn. Bhd and BioProd. Sdn Berhad for biofuel , enzymes and enzymatic deinking process.
