We are pleased to announce that starting from 1 January 2020, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) will beef up and monitor the \u201cNo Single-Use Plastics\u201d or \u201cProhibition on the Usage of Single-Use Plastics\u201d Campaign within the entire campuses of UTM Johor Bahru and UTM Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n

The aforesaid campaign is aimed at raising the awareness of the prohibition against using single-use plastics such as plastic food\/drink containers, plastic straws, plastic bags, and plastic spoons\/forks. Besides, the campaign and prohibition aim to support the \u201cZero Waste Program\u201d, in line with UTM\u2019s adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n

As a good practice, we strongly encourage the campus community to bring their own container when taking away food\/drink.<\/p>\n

The University hopes that all staff, students, business operators and suppliers are well aware of this campaign and prohibition and anticipates the cooperation from all parties to make the program a success.<\/p>\n
