Profesor Sr. Gs. Dr. Mazlan Hashim is a Professor and Senior Fellow at the Geoscience & Digital Earth Centre (INSTeG), Faculty of Built Environment & Surveying, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).\u00a0 Currently\u00a0 he is a Chairman of the Council of Professors, UTM. He has previously held several positions in UTM as Senior Director of Research Institute of Sustainable Environment (RISE-UTM); Dean of Sustainble Research Group Alliance under the office of Deputy Vice-Chancellour for Research Development and Innovation UTM.<\/p>\n

He has held several positions as Visiting Professor\/Scientist at Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan (2011-2022); Arabian Gulf University (2015); Univ. of Cambridge, United Kingdom (2010); National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan (2002- 2004), Peking University, China (1990); and Tohoku University, Japan (1989).<\/p>\n

Professor Mazlan Hashim is an expert in remote sensing applications with geomatics engineering background. His research interest is in the rigorous development and innovation of diverse satellite remote sensing and geospatial applications for natural resources and environmental management, including in tropical ecology and biodiversity. He has led several national and international collaborative studies as Principal Investigator in remote sensing and geospatial technology applications, with a total accumulative of more RM 45 million from national, international and contract research grants. He has published his research works in more than 360 indexed publications with 120 articles in high impact journals; his current h-index 43 <\/em><\/strong>with more than 6800 total citations in Scopus and web of Science; and has 17 IPR patents, copyrights (granted, filed and disclosed).\u00a0 He has also had an extensive publication of articles in non-indexed journals, book chapters, books and proceedings.<\/p>\n

He received various awards at both national and international levels for his outstanding R&D&I in the field of geospatial sciences, particularly remote sensing and its applications.\u00a0 He was conferred as Fellow Academy Sciences Malaysia <\/em><\/strong>in Engineering Sciences in 2018 for recognition of the excellence and impact of his works and contributions in Geomatic and Remote Sensing. He is also a recipient of Top Research Scientist Malaysia <\/em><\/strong>(TRSM) in 2016 by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Internationally, He was listed as World Top 2% Scientists <\/em><\/strong>in single year citation since 2019. He is also Fellow and Life-member to Institution of Geosptial and Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM) since 2005<\/p>\n

He serves as an Editorial Board member for various international journals such as Nature Scientific Reports; International Journal of Image and Data Fusion; Jurnal Teknologi;<\/em> Malaysian Journal of Remote Sensing & GIS; and Journal of Advanced Geospatial Science & Technology.<\/p>\n

Prof Mazlan Hashim has continuously inspiring young researchers to impactful research, putting scientific findings to actions, humanising it to benefit related industry and society, apart, from contributions to new knowledge. He has successfully supervised as main supervisor for 23 completed PhD and 37 M. Sc (by full research), respectively.<\/p>\n
