It is always interesting to contribute from the other side of academic publishing, not only as an author, but also in helping research from the wider community move towards publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And Xi\u2019an itself makes this invitation even more interesting. It is one of China\u2019s great historic cities and was the eastern starting point of the ancient Silk Road. Today, it is also a major centre for higher education, science and technology. Quite a combination of history and innovation for a conference on mapping and remote sensing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you to the RSMIP 2027 organising committee for the invitation and confidence.
