Portable Insulin Cool Box Temperature Analysis

by | Oct 2, 2025 | Uncategorized

We recently undertook a collaborative project with the Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Johor Bahru (PKDJB) focusing on the development and evaluation of the Insubox, a specialized portable storage solution for insulin. The importance of this work is significant because the Insubox uses passive cooling technology, meaning it requires no external power source, to reliably maintain insulin at the critical recommended temperature below 8∘C. This ensures patients and healthcare providers have a stable, flexible method for insulin preservation, especially during transport or in challenging environments. Our lab performed a detailed thermal analysis study to meticulously verify that every compartment of the Insubox could consistently maintain the required temperature throughout its entire period of operation.
