MULTIDIMENSIONAL PERSPECTIVE OF MALAYSIA-ARAB RELATIONS
Malaysia’s relations with the countries in the Arab world has been steadily growing. Arab world can be widely defined as the countries in the Middle East Region. It is also known with a number of other terms such as the West Asia, the Near East, the Levant and the Fertile Crescent. This book presents about the contemporary relationship between Malaysia and the selected West Asian countries. It includes an important discussion about the vital occasion that occurred recently in the Arab world widely known as Arab Spring. It provides argument on how the Arab Spring influenced the Malaysian politics and society. On the other part, brief discussions on the economic relationship with countries in the Arab and Persian Gulfs were also included. This is particularly important due to the fact that the relations between Malaysia and those countries in the Arab and Persian Gulfs have been promising. Further discussion on the Arab Gulf countries’ investment in South East Asian (SEA) countries is also included. This discussion is to analyse and compare the investment linkages of Arab Investment the SEA region and to evaluate how it affects Malaysia. This book also provides a discourse on the civil society movements in the Middle East and how it influences Malaysian society, especially on the issue of Islamic movement.
HIYAL DAN TRANSAKSI TAWARRUQ DALAM PRODUK PERBANKAN ISLAM
Ḥiyal merupakan satu bentuk solusi yang banyak di aplikasi bagi penawaran produk kewangan dalam perbankan Islam di Malaysia. Kontrak yang berasaskan ḥiyal menyumbang kepada kelestarian institusi perbankan Islam Malaysia sehingga hari ini. Ḥiyal juga memberikan alternatif kepada pihak bank untuk memenuhi keperluan kewangan pelanggan perbankan Islam bagi dari pelbagai sudut; termasuk perolehan keuntungan dan pembiayaan yang selari dengan prinsip Syariah. Buku ini secara keseluruhannya menghuraikan tentang konteks aplikasi ḥiyal dalam institusi perbankan Islam di Malaysia dengan memfokuskan perbincangan dalam penawaran produk deposit berasaskan kontrak tawarruq selain turut membincangkan konsep ḥiyal dari sudut pandang sarjana Islam. Selain itu, turut dibincangkan dalam buku ini berkaitan isu-isu ḥiyal yang terkait dalam operasi kontrak tawarruq di perbankan Islam dan mekanisme kawalan risiko isu Syariah berkaitan ḥiyal dalam operasi kontrak tawarruq dalam perbankan Islam Malaysia.
FIQH SAINS DAN TEKNOLOGI: MENDEPANI ISU PERUBATAN KONTEMPORARI
Bidang sains dan perubatan berkembang dengan sangat pesat dewasa ini, lebih-lebih lagi selepas revolusi industri yang berlaku di Eropah. Kesannya pelbagai ciptaan dan inovasi diperkenalkan demi kemaslahatan manusia.
Namun, sebagai seorang Muslim yang terikat dengan peraturan yang telah ditetapkan oleh Allah SWT, setiap inovasi dan ciptaan yang dihasilkan mestilah menepati kehendak syarak dan tidak memberikan mudarat kepada manusia.
Lima unsur utama yang dikenali sebagai al-daruriyat al-khams perlu dipelihara. Justeru, buku ini mengumpulkan beberapa penulisan berkenaan isu terpilih dalam bidang sains dan perubatan yang dibincang dari perspektif hukum Islam, seperti penggunaan ular dalam perubatan, teknologi bayi tri-induk, CRIPS-Cas9 dan mati otak menurut perspektif Islam di samping elemen darurah dalam amalan perubatan dan etika perubatan menurut al-Razi.
Buku ini sangat sesuai dibaca oleh segenap lapisan masyarakat melibatkan para pelajar di universiti sehinggalah para penyelidik dan pengkaji dalam sains dan syariah.
KELUARGA SEJAHTERA: ASAS DAN AMALAN
Kes perceraian di Malaysia saban tahun dilihat sangat merisaukan dengan peningkatan perceraian yang luar biasa membabitkan pasangan bukan islam mahupun bagi pasangan yang beragama islam. Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) merekodkan sebanyak 1,749 kes pada tahun 2017, meningkat kepada 2,016 kes pada tahun 2018. Manakala, dalam kalangan pasangan Islam menurut Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Kehakiman Syariah Malaysia (JKSM), Datuk Dr Mohd Naim Mokhtar Kes perceraian pasangan Islam paling tinggi yang direkodkan di seluruh negara sepanjang tahun lalu membabitkan negeri maju seperti Selangor dan Johor. Daripada keseluruhan 45,420 kes penceraian yang didaftarkan di seluruh negara pada 2021, Selangor mencatatkan 8,811 kes, diikuti Johor 5,058 kes, Perak 4,215 kes dan Kelantan 4,093 kes. Antara punca utama yang dikenal pasti ialah tiada persefahaman antara pasangan, faktor kewangan, gagal menunaikan tanggungjawab memberi nafkah, pasangan curang dan campur tangan keluarga.
WRITING ACADEMIC ARTICLES FOR SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES
Publication is one of the research outputs to fulfil the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) in UTM. Research publication consists of publications in High Impact Journal in Web of Science (WOS), Scopus Indexed Publication, Proceedings, Edited Volume, and Books. Since every academic staff is required to publish in WOS/Scopus indexed publication and proceedings as an individual annual KPI, this year the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) has made an initiative to conduct a series of workshops on publication to ensure that every academic staff could publish his/her work. The series of workshops includes Writing Abstract, Introduction & Systematic Literature Review, Writing Methodology and Findings, and Writing Discussion and Conclusions.
As a follow up to this, another initiative taken up is to compile the contents of the workshops conducted to form a written guideline for staff and students at FSSH. This publication, aptly named ‘Writing Academic Articles for Social Sciences and Humanities’, is divided into the following topics:

Every topic in this book deals with a specific sub-section of a journal article and assists readers to produce an effective writing for suitable for publication. The topic ‘Writing for Academic Purposes’ gives a general overview of academic writing especially in Social Sciences and Humanities Journals. An important aspect of publication is dealt with in the chapter on ‘Publication Ethics and Ethical Issues’. The next topic on ‘Writing an Abstract’ provides a guideline on how to write a summary of a research work to suit the needs of a journal article. ‘Writing an Introduction’ is one of the important sections in a journal article.
