Abstract:
There is strong evidence to suggest that BIM is a powerful tool and will become an even greater force in the throughout project design and planning, construction and facilities management. However, to optimised the usage of BIM, there are limited studies conducted which seek to assess the current levels of usage and advocated to the benefits of BIM and yet no consensus on how to evaluate the level of benefit of BIM for organisation. Therefore, the aims of this paper are to reflect on measuring the organisations’ perceived level of benefit of BIM throughout the project life cycle in Malaysia. A questionnaire survey was employed to 500 respondents from Housing Developers’ in Malaysia as pilot study. 64 returned questionnaires were collected and 34 questionnaires are valid to use in this study. Initially, the 25 items in measuring the organisations’ perceived level of benefit of BIM throughout project life cycle in Malaysia fit well, based on the Rasch guidelines, and the scale showed evidence of unidimensionality; therefore, the items suggested acceptable and appropriate evidence of construct validity.
