Manners and ethics

Manner and ethics are both crucial in maintaining a respectful and harmonious in our society especially in the educational environment. As a lecturer, I belief that these manner and ethic would be able to change the student’s attitude, trust, and able to improve the lecturer credibility. This can be achieved in several ways:

1.        Building trust through respectful communication and Fairness

When lecturers communicate respectfully and ethically, it fosters a trusting environment. Students are more likely to feel valued and understood, which enhances their trust in the lecturer.

Students are coming from different background, location, language and barrier. Respectful communication by the lecturer fostering a trust environment. The students are likely to feel comfortable and valued when theirs is a positive vibe by the lecturer.

Student consistently and fairly to build trust among themselves and the lecturer who are transparent and fair in their dealings.

2.        Improve Student Performance Through Positive Learning and Role Modeling

Manner and ethic always contribute the positive side, where is in the education – the positive learning environment. Students are more engaged and motivated to perform well when they are fell respected, valued, and having a trust among themselves.

Another side is the lecture need to be a role model to the students. A good characteristic, attitudes as well the manners shown by the lecturer would be a mirror for them. They are likely to see someone in their life to follow. In the aspect of university, the lecturer is the closest entity for them. Therefore, lecturer who demonstrate ethical behavior serve as role models. Student often replicate this behavior, which may lead them to academic integrity and performance.

3.        Fostering Lecturer Credibility Through Professionalism

Lecturer who adhere to ethical standard and show good manners are seen more credible and professional. This would enhance lecturer reputation and effectiveness as educators.
