On 13 February 2017 was my first class in Semester 2 2016/2017. I teach SMBE1313 Statics and Dynamics and pair with Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir. A total of 87 1st year students from biomedical engineering programme have to take this course. 39 of them is from Section 1 under Prof Rafiq and the rest is under me for Section 2.
In general, Statics and dynamics are two fundamental and important subjects to equip undergraduates with the necessary tools to solve biomechanics related problems. This course covers the concepts and principles related to the physical behaviour of materials under static loads and during motion. Emphasis is placed on the importance of satisfying equilibrium, analysing structure, solving resultant of forces, kinematics and kinetics of rigid bodies.
In this course, there will be 2 quizzes and 2 tests and of course, the students should take final examination.
