Taaruf Bersama Dekan Baru FBME
Bulan Jun 2017, pihak FBME telah menerima lantikan baru Prof Dekan. Beliau ialah Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohammed Rafiq Bin Dato’ Abdul Kadir. Mesyuarat pertama yang diadakan untuk pertemuan pertama dengan dekan baru telah berlangsung pada 6 Jun 2017. Sesi taaruf bersama beliau serta ucapan ringkas untuk strategi pelaksaan beliau sebagai dekan baru telah disampaikan.
A workshop on Instron
We successfully conducted a workshop on handling Instron machine at Level 1, FBME. The facilitator is Dr. Amir Putra from FKM, UTM who is a senior lecturer at the Department of Design. He managed to show us on how to do static compression test using Instron. It is a great opportunity to learn basic knowledge of handling mechanical testing machine.
Lawatan Akademik SMK Skudai ke FBME
Julung-julung kali pada tahun ini, Faculty of Biosciences and Medical Engineering (FBME) menerima lawatan akademik daripada Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Skudai (SMK Skudai) yang diiringi oleh 5 guru pengirim. Tujuan lawatan ini adalah untuk mendedahkan suasana universiti kepada para pelajar sekolah di samping pihak FBME dapat berkongsi bidang kepakaran dan peralatan yang ada di fakulti. Seramai 80 orang pelajar SMK Skudai tiba di FBME pada jam 8.30 pagi dan terus berhimpun di dalam Dewan Kuliah Al-Jazari.
1) Majlis pembukaan telah disempurnakan oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Kahar Osman pada jam 9.00 pagi.
2) Diikuti dengan ucapan daripada Ketua Jabatan Sains Klinikal, Dr. Ahmad Zahran
3) Slot seterusnya pada jam 10 pagi adalah ceramah motivasi yang di sampaikan oleh Dr. Mohd Nazri Bajuri
4) Majlis seterusnya adalah forum.
5) Pada sebelah petang pula bermula jam 2 petang, sesi lawatan diadakan di lima buah makmal FBME.

Test 2 – Solid Mechanics
The last assessment for my students. Test 2 of Solid Mechanics was conducted on 18th May 2017.
WolfRam Mathematica Seminar
Great to know that other than Marc, Abaqus, Solidworks, and Mimics, there is one software that can be used to do simulation and it is free for UTM staff. The software is WolfRam Mathematica. So I have attended a seminar on how to operate the software, not mastering it, but at least a basic one especially related to my field; biomedical engineering.
Biomedical Forum – 17.05.2017
I spent 1 whole day to attend a biomedical forum at Iskandar Puteri, Johor on 17th May 2017. Together with me, a total of 10 staff of FBME and 80 students from third and forth years of biomedical engineering programme. The objectives of the forum was to discuss current biomedical field in Malaysia, particularly in Johor and to plan new strategies to empower the field in Malaysia. We are glad to hear some experiences from K-Biotech Industry who spent their time , I believed almost 10 years, to empower biomedical field in Korea.

HTGYE Talk – By Dr. Nazri Bajuri
A great moment with the great person, Dr Nazri Bajuri. He delivered a speech on how to sell yourself during the job interview. The audience was final year student of biomedical engineering FBME attended their compulsory course which is How To Get Yourself Employed (HTGYE). Here are some moment during Dr. Nazri’s speech.
Engagement with UTM Staff
An engagement with the UTM Staff was held on 25 April 2017 at the Training Centre, UTM. The objective of the event was to discuss and share some thought of individual staff for the improvement of UTM system such as KPI, grants and students.
