More than 40,000 people trapped in the Syrian village of Madaya, just 30 miles north of Damascus, are in desperate need of food, medical aid and supplies that have been blocked off for months while the city has been under siege by government forces.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Syrian government said it would allow for aid to enter the city, but it may be too little and too late for those who are suffering.<\/p>\n

Then on Friday, UN officials said the “very alarming situation”<\/a> may be a war crime in which both sides of the conflict are culpable. \u201cThe situation in Madaya is ghastly,\u201d said Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights spokesperson Rupert Colville Friday, in a statement demanding relief.
