LONDON \u2014 Alan Rickman, one of the UK’s best known actors who’s starred in everything from Harry Potter<\/em> to Die Hard<\/em>, has died aged 69.<\/p>\n

The actor’s death was confirmed to Mashable<\/em> by his reps. He had been suffering from cancer, the Guardian<\/em> reported<\/a><\/p>\n

Rickman first shot to fame in 1998, when he played villain Hans Gruber opposite Bruce Willis in Die Hard<\/em> – a part he was given two days after arriving in LA. He went on to play several other villains, including the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves<\/em> and Rasputin in Rasputin: Dark Servant Of Destiny<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He’s also starred in Sense and Sensibility<\/em>, Love Actually<\/em>, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street<\/em>. Many fans will remember him as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter<\/em> films. Read more…<\/a><\/p>\n
