The death toll in Ecuador has risen to 238 following a powerful earthquake on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

Government officials, who released the new figures in a press release Sunday, said hundreds of buildings were also destroyed in the magnitude-7.8 quake. Major roads remain closed in the areas hardest hit by the quake.<\/p>\n
