Australian online beauty retailer Adore Beauty is taking on China and its more than one billion consumers.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2000, Adore Beauty is the work of Kate Morris, who just happened to guess that people would love to shop for skincare online in\u00a0<\/span>“the very, very early dot com days.” Adore began\u00a0<\/span>as a garage business, she told Mashable Australia,<\/i>\u00a0getting started thanks to a A<\/span>$12,000 loan from her boyfriend’s dad.<\/span><\/p>\n

It now has a team of 35 people, and accepted its first funding round in 2015 after more than a decade of bootstrapping.
