In the fall of 1973, Scottish-born brothers Malcolm and Angus Young decided to form a band together in Australia. Feeling it was a perfect encapsulation of their electric energy and presence, the brothers adopted the name AC\/DC (which stands for \u201calternating current\/direct current\u201d) after their sister Margaret saw the label on the power supply of a sewing machine.<\/p>\n

Also at Margaret\u2019s suggestion, Angus adopted a signature stage costume \u2014 a schoolboy\u2019s uniform<\/p>\n

The brothers tried out a couple of lead singers before recruiting Ronald \u201cBon\u201d Scott in 1974. With their lineup cemented, the band quickly recorded its first two albums, High Voltage<\/i> and T.N.T.<\/i> Within a year they were one of the most popular new bands in Australia.
