In olden China, the most likely place you’d find cross-dressing would probably be the theatre, where men played female roles because women were not allowed on stage.<\/p>\n

Today, many Chinese people continue to maintain traditional attitudes against LGBT visibility,\u00a0despite homosexuality becoming decriminalised in the country in 1997.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last Friday, 20 contestants defied societal norms and took part in a\u00a0<\/span>cross-dressing competition<\/a>\u00a0held at Icon Club in Shanghai.<\/span><\/p>\n
