Deadly forest fires across India\u2019s Himalayan state of Uttarakhand have burned more than 2,300 hectares of forests and killed six people. The fires started three months ago, but had increased in intensity in the last few days.<\/p>\n

While forest fires are an annual summer occurrence in the region, forest officials say that the increased intensity this year is due to the unexpectedly high temperatures and low rainfall in the last two years.
