At its core,\u00a0Silicon Valley<\/em>\u00a0is a comedy.<\/p>\n

But what\u00a0Richard Toyon<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jennifer Mueller<\/a>\u00a0do to help take the show from written scripts to completed episodes isn\u2019t necessarily comedic.<\/p>\n

Toyon and Mueller are the show\u2019s production designer and set decorator, respectively, and they\u2019re tasked with creating a set that is as true-to-life as possible, even though it\u2019s for an inherently fictional show. While the popular HBO series \u2014 now in the early episodes of its third season \u2014 is not truly based in reality, it\u2019s unlike many other popular shows in that it takes place in a very real location, in (more or less) present times, and focuses heavily on the realistic startup tech culture in Silicon Valley, the southern part of San Francisco\u2019s Bay Area that serves as the epicenter of the high-tech gold rush.
