Shortly before landing\u00a0<\/span>on a flight from Chicago to Albuquerque<\/span>, a Muslim woman was approached by a man she did not know. He had taken issue with her hijab, and s<\/span>aying something along the lines of “Take it off! This is America!” he proceeded to rip the headscarf off, leaving her head exposed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gill Parker Payne, 37, of North Carolina has now\u00a0pled guilty to one count of using force or threat of force to obstruct the unnamed woman in the free exercise of her religious beliefs, the Department of Justice\u00a0said in a statement<\/a>. He has not yet been sentenced.<\/span><\/p>\n
