John Jairo Vel\u00e1squez, who\u00a0was known as Pablo Escobar’s most notorious hitman “Popeye,” is attempting to turn over a new new leaf after serving more than two decades in prison.\u00a0He was\u00a0<\/span>convicted for the assassination of presidential candidate Luis Carlos Gal\u00e1n in 1989.<\/span><\/p>\n Now, the Colombian ex-hitman has spent the last nine months building his YouTube channel<\/a> called “Popeye Arrepentido” or ‘Remorseful Popeye.”<\/p>\n Vel\u00e1squez launched the channel \u2014 which now has over 116,000 subscribers \u2014 after a friend suggested it as a form of repentance.
