The sculpture of Lucille Ball known as “Scary Lucy” has officially terrified its last residents in Ball’s hometown of Celoron, New York.<\/p>\n

In its place is a new bronze statue<\/a> \u2014 this time wrought by sculptor Carolyn Palmer, who won a competition to create it last year.<\/p>\n

The replacement comes after years of complaints that the original statue \u2014 which admittedly resembles a horror villain \u2014 was too “frightening.” Even the original sculptor, Dave Poulin, didn’t disagree.<\/p>\n

“From the day of its installation, I have shared my disappointment in the final outcome and have always believed it to be by far my most unsettling sculpture,” Poulin wrote in a letter<\/a> to the Hollywood Reporter.<\/em> Read more…<\/a><\/p>\n
