The present invention provides a method for preparing iron nanoparticles, the method includes: a) employing Averrhoa bilimbii aqueous leaf extract contains polyphenols component that act as reducing agent and stabilizing / capping agent for the iron nanoparticles preparation; b) synthesizing of iron nanoparticles by mixing the Averrhoa bilimbii aqueous leaf extract with aqueous solution of Iron(II) Sulfate Heptahydrate FeSO4.7H2O; wherein the method provides an environmentally friendly biosynthetic approach for synthesis and stabilization of iron nanoparticles, and wherein said polyphenols component are biodegradable, whichenables reduce metal ions and stabilize the nanoparticles through complex formation at the same time.
